Green Roofing Products

Los Gatos Roofing is a Certified Green Business by Santa Clara County and we are extremely conscious of our surroundings and the effect our service may have on the environment. There are many things a roofing contractor can do to help you reduce your home’s effect on the environment and help you save energy.

Radiant Barrier OSB

Radiant barrier is a thin aluminum layer that is laminated to the solid sheathing under the shingles, and can prevent up to 97% of radiant heat from entering into your home’s attic in certain applications. Radiant barrier OSB can reduce peak attic temperatures up to 23 degrees, saving you money on your PG & E bill, and keeping your home cool and comfortable. Radiant barrier also meets new Title 24 requirements.

Cool Roofs

By installing a roofing product with “cool roof” technologies, you can reduce your roof’s surface temperature up to 60 degrees on a hot summer day. These products provide you with energy savings, reduce the urban heat island effect, are Energy Star Rated, and qualify for federal tax credits. Cool Roof products include asphalt shingles, clay tile and concrete tile.

Insulation

Your home can lose almost half of its heat through the ceiling on a cold winter day. Blown-in Pink Fiberglas insulation by Owens Corning can reduce your energy consumption, and is guaranteed not to settle, thus maintaining its energy-saving R-value over time. Most homes over 10 years old do not have proper insulation, and blown-in insulation also qualifies for federal tax credits.

Ridgevent

Increasing your attic’s ventilation is not only required by all new building codes, but is the easiest way to make your home more comfortable and energy efficient. Continuous ridgeventing provides unmatched net free vent area, and is far more efficient than static sheetmetal eyebrow vents or turbine vents. Ridgeventing is also the only way to properly vent attics with vaulted ceilings and enclosed attic spaces.
